Yoga and Water are two of my greatest loves so exploring them together has been a great joy for me, and adapting Vinyasa Yoga to the Pool is an ongoing research and inspiration.
The buoyancy of the water shifts our paradigm with gravity and provides, for many, a gentle and playful medium to work on balance, strength, flexibility, range of motion, the personal mind-body-breath connection, and the interpersonal community connection.
I developed the first aquatic yoga program at the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation and at the New York Health & Racquet Club where I had the honor to work and witness the benefits of aquatic activity for people of all ages.
The physical joie de vivre that emerges through movement in the water, combined with the mindfulness and depth of yogic breathing and awareness, creates a wonderful opportunity to feel completely cleansed, refreshed, and revitalized through class. I have had Seniors in my aquatic yoga sessions doing under water handstands and feeling like Kids again for the first time in many years!
