Ashtanga vinyasa yoga is a moving meditation practice, as all contemplative art forms such as music, theatre, sewing, and painting can be. That said, it is still very helpful for the mind to practice sitting meditation (and sometimes walking meditation) where we have no other material than our minds to engage, or non-engage, with. This can be the trickiest form of meditation, but also, the most calming. I study and practice meditation in the Tibetan and Chinese Buddhist traditions and offer intro to meditation classes and workshops. Recently, I’ve started a Meditation and Mindfulness MeetUp group to keep a consistent offering of meditation sessions  – particularly on Full & New Moon days when we traditionally take rest from the Ashtanga vinyasa practice. Please join me there, or contact me here to get your meditation practice going!
