Vegan Cooking

320px-ahimsa-svgOne of the central principles of yoga practice is Ahimsa, non-violence towards self and others. For myself and many others, putting this principle into practice means going vegan.

Growing up, I was the only person in my immediate family to stop eating meat. Perhaps the hardest part of being a herbivore is being surrounded by carnivores – being the only one in the group to think and act differently. If not for social habit and pressure, perhaps many more people would embrace a plant based diet for their own health and happiness, as well as for that of all beings, including our very planet. Thankfully vegan choices are becoming more popular than ever, and it is getting easier and easier to go vegan.
